I don't know anybody that calls themselves Shmu-eh-lee, even if they spell it Shmueli. My point wasn't why is calling himself Shmueli on his albums while he's known as Shmili (lots of professionals have their professional names different than their personal name). My point was, on the same ad the names should be consistent, if the album artist is Shmueli then the ad shouldn't be for an artist named Shmili

So now Shmueli Ungar is following MBD's footsteps and posting a paypal link for people to pay if they stole the album. I don't get it. If I want to pay for it, I can just go pay for it. What's with the PayPal? I don't know why, but it feels weird and condescending.

If it's a way to avoid the distributor getting their cut, well, isn't that little scam ironic?

You know that's not what it is.

I don't think that's what it is. But there are so many ways to buy it and pay for it, it's the only reason I could think of.

It is a publicity stunt

I don't get it. There's no "stunt" and what's the publicity? If he sneezes on Instagram, he gets 4000 views. This will barely scratch 150 likes.

Yes, I realize I'm speaking about it. But for someone who wrote hundreds of positive words about him, this ain't exactly fawning.

Lots of people share the album on groups. That means many people end up getting it for free unintentionally. Why should they buy the album if they already have a copy on their phones? Of these people, few are honest and while they are not interested in an additional copy, still feel the production company is due their money. This whole business of stealing and distributing music in the Yiddish community is out of control and so many feel Ďjustifiedí. ie heís rich enough. He doesnít need my $15. Iím sorry but thatís wrong plain and simple. This album cost upwards of $120k. Your $15 is the least you can do if you got the album. I honestly donít get why youíre unhappy...

You're 100% right. I think people were asking why the need to set up paypal, if they can just go to itunes or wherever and purchase the album. They don't need to download it again if they have it downloaded already.

See upthread for my thoughts on this. I'm in no way pro stealing at all. If I want to pay for a stolen copy of something I'll just go to nigun or mostly music or wherever and pay. The PayPal shtick is contrived.

Also, I'm not unhappy about anything.
