This isn't technically a song, but it is the funniest thing I've heard in a long time.

Especially after the whole lakewood concert story, it does a great job making fun of rebbeim and their disconnect with bochrim.

Apparently adamah v’shamayim was written for avodah zara and should not be listened to

I was wrong. This is the original
http://thatroundhouse.info/music.htm

Wow. It took some time finding.
The group is Prana. the song is "Tall Trees". The original words: "I feel it in my body, and I feed it to my source." Definitely avoda Zara.

Then Sagol took it and cleaned up the words. The following versions seem to be taken from their version.

I was in the boat that it should be assur to listen to the song and that it's probably A"Z. But I asked my posek, told him that the tunes are the same, and showed him the original transliterated lyrics compared to the lyrics now. He told me - "לענ"ד אני לא רואה שום בעיה"

Here's the lyrics I showed him:

רוח חזקה, מים עמוקים; עצים גבוהים, אש חמה, אני מרגישה את זה בגופי, אני
להאכיל אותו להמקור שלי
Heya heya heya heya heya heya ho (חזור)

And here's Adama:

אדמה ושמים
חום האש צליל המים
אני מרגיש זאת בגופי
ברוחי בנשמתי

הייה הייה הייה הייה
הייה הייה הייה הוו...

Those aren't an accurate translation of the original lyrics, yuneeq. The original lyrics include the line "I feel it in my body and feed it to the source", which seems to me to be referring to Wiccan earth-worship. (The earth being the source of all things - not god cha"v). You're also mistranslating the line "Mother earth live forever" which isn't in the version you showed him. (The live is missing)

Here is a remix of the real original song with the lyrics. (The ayayayayo is not part of the original song, that was added later.)

BTW, does your psek know Wicca? If he doesn't, he shouldn't pasken.

In essence, Wicca believes their singing and rituals of dancing provide the earth with chiyus. It's basically pagan avoda zara, and that is what Adama Vshamayim is celebrating. Keep in mind if you show a rav "Amazing Grace" he will also think it's muttar if he doesn't understand what "I was lost and now I'm saved" is referring to. Those words are innocuous to the unfamiliar.

That’s in the lyrics I showed, look again.

I took the lyrics  from Prana version which is the original, don’t think anything is missing from that version.

If you have a different/better version of the lyrics that you can send in Hebrew I’ll show it to him.

I stressed to him that the song writer worships the body and the earth, and that song lyrics are a reflection of that. I’m not familiar with Wicca so if it’s more than that I didn’t say so. I will say that I was not trying to get him say muttar and was a bit surprised when he said so.

i don’t believe it’s that simple (that they actually worship the earth. Although there is focus on the five elements, but not necessarily as a diety...) although not taking away that Wicca is pure avoda Zara for other blatant reasons

Yuneeq, I was saying your translation was inaccurate. Do you have a posek who knows English? Furthermore, the Rambam paskens that there's no issur for a rav to learn the seforim of avoda zara since that knowledge is essential i paskeining whether it's muttar or not. (This is why many yidden fall into the trap of mattering all sorts of questionable a"z-based alternative health treatments, because they don't understand their origin and how it's based on worship, while Rav Belsky zt'l who was familiar with thier origin, assered them all.)

The one I trust most does not speak English. If you have a better translation I will try that.

He's a reputable dayan and posek, I trust him to be knowledgeable in this area and to know what he can and cannot do. Also, I didn't frame the question asking whether the original lyrics were A"Z or not. I asked on the basis that the original lyrics are A"Z, is this current iteration assur to listen to as well?

Also, it shouldn't have to be mentioned, this was my rov, and someone else might be able to explain the question better than me. Each person should rely on their own posek.

What's worse? No music or acapella? I always have a hard time deciding and after listening to some acapella just now I feel like crying (maybe that's the intention?)
If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

because half of the songs are tisha baav style songs or half of them are ripped parodies of hit songs from the radio?

After listening to some sefira albums, I feel a need to reiterate a rant I once had

*RANT ALERT*

I hate these people who produce a "Sefira CD" that has just a bunch of people singing, and charge $15 for it. Can it be justified to charge the same amount as an album that has full music (which is the most expensive part of the production)? And many of these albums sound horrible. There's a great one liner that sums it up: " Sefira albums are the only type of albums that a guy could wake up in the morning and decide to put one out, and have it completely finished before he goes to sleep. And from the way that many of them sound nowadays, it seems like that's exactly what happened!" Listen up producers: it takes more talent to put out a good acapella album then it takes to put out a good music album. On an acapella album, you can't hide behind the music. If you don't have the talent to create beautiful harmonies and whatever else you need to make a nice Sefira album, please turn over and go back to sleep. Thank you.
