I can't seem to quote it, but regarding waking up in the morning and finishing an acapella album by night, Benny Friedman actually did his in two days.  And it's been sitting solidly at number 1 on iTunes (World) for days.  What Doni Gross can do!  (BTW, for whoever was listing albums that are all genuine vocals, slow, Jewish, etc. for the three weeks, add this one to the list.)

Singers trying to cover Ishay Ribo are like vegetarians trying to make burgers out of tofu.

Doni Gross is a maestro. (Benny is obviously no slouch either...)

Couldn't agree more.
But what is one to do when his favorite food is a burger and he's allergic to meat?

Listened to the sampler on YT, as well as the individual track samples on Amazon. From what I could hear, every song sounded the same. Plus, the 'choir' backing was just essentially humming the melody and that's it. Was ready to go ahead and buy it with no-rush credits, but having listened a bit, I'm hesitant.

Doni Gross' acapella albums generally are like that; he's going for a simple, wholesome cover of the original song. No fancy "beats" etc. The harmonies are subtle and impeccable.

I know what they're like - see above where I referenced the Kumzitz in the Rain series. I'm not looking for voices mimicking instruments, but if the whole thing is him singing the songs with a choir in the background singing the same melody, that would be a no from me. Truth is though, I just went back to the DG produced sampler (on YT) and that sounds much more diverse than the (likely auto-generated) sample clips on Amazon, which are probably just selected from the earlier/simpler parts of the songs.

Listen to his stuff with headphones, when you can get the full stereo effect. Magnificent sound.

Let them make their tofu burgers and enjoy them.  But can they please stop trying to get everyone else to eat them?  There are way too many tofu burgers showing up on the menus these days.  Perhaps if they'd try, they might find they would enjoy a stir-fry or a curry or some entirely new dish, as well.

What song messes this up? Maybe the fact that I don't know is why I got it right.

Look at the poll results as is...

I'm sure there will be a couple songs posted there when they're done with the poll

Why would you need tehillim for something that's in davening? Are there really shitos that hold to never say tachanun ever?

Very good. I was one of the people that thought it's אליך. What should I say? I guess I should've paid more attention. Speeding through tachanun definitely doesn't either help.

Off of my head I think beri Weber's riboin says it like that (although he's chassidish?)

There are unfortunately no shortage of songs in which singers bungle words. Don't want to post specifics due to lashon harah...

I think you're speed listening through Beri Weber songs as well. That song doesn't have these words in it  :)
