So apparently the song Baasi on Shir 3 was originally made for Simcha Leiner by Rechnitz and Simcha changed it from the original version when he put it on his CD. He basically kept the low and middle part of the song and completely changed the high part. Rechnitz didn't like how he doctored the song and therefore put out the original version on Shir 3 with Daskal singing. Which version of the song do you like better?

I bought the children's albums Tickets and Tickets II yesterday for my kids in quarantine. I didn't hear the whole thing, just overheard snippets, but it seems like it was really done well. Some of the songs (which are all original) sound like they are top notch, and the sound production of the story sounds great as well.

The state of the Jewish Music industry is crumbling. We are now at a point that Mostly Music has a "Post Single" button on their homepage.

Jewish music is so bad that instead of people paying for it people pay to have their kvetching passed off as music...

Is it though? It could just be a more targeted way of soliciting advertisers for the site. If they have takers, I'm curious if it will have a "sponsored" tag.

Also, if there isn't as much a market as there used to be for selling albums, that doesn't mean it's crumbling, it is changing. Avraham Fried, for instance, seems to be more interested in releasing singles s they are ready rather than accumulating an album's worth of material.

Is venture a guess that far more people are listening to more Jewish music now than a decade or two ago, only that now it's streaming vs albums. But that's just a bunch.

Good point. I didn't see it from that perspective.

Do singers not get paid from streaming services? I really don't know

I think they do, but the amount of revenue that comes in from every mediocre song, with it being streamed 10 or 100 times, is miniscule.

No hard data on this, just my assumption.

They do, but it is in fractions of pennies. I think upthread there is a breakdown of how much Spotify and others pay, and it really is not a lot. The money is in live performances. But that has not changed, albums were always called business cards

Unless your name is Shwekey, Fried, MBD, or Isaac Honig. Then you can make money on albums also.
