There seems to be a new trend sneaking into Jewish music, for singers to release EPs. I'm not an expert, but from a quick search I learned that "EP stands for 'Extended Play,' meaning that an EP is longer than a single but shorter than an album. They typically feature between 2-5 songs and are under 30 minutes in length."
I assume it's a low-cost way of staying relevant, without having to put out 10 songs at a large cost. But unlike a single, people will be more willing to pay some money for an EP.
In related news, 8th Day put out a 2-song EP today, which is selling for
$1.98 on Mostly Music. It's also available on
Spotify and
Apple Music. (H/T for links: Music On Time)
They released one of the two songs as a lyrics video last night.
