Yellowstone with kids
« on: May 26, 2015, 01:04:44 AM »
Any tips on easy and safe activities to do with kids (5 kids - ages 6mos, 3, 3, 5 and 8 )  at Yellowstone?  Anyone going in mid-June?

Posting here would probably get you more responses.

Most of the major attractions are wheelchair accessible so no problem with a stroller (other than the pain of taking it in and out of the car so many times), if you bring some kind of carrier that would open up those that are not wheelchair accessible but just only few stairs or a short walk.

Other than that bring lots of snacks, drinks and entertainment for long times in cars and lots of sunscreen (high altitude sun can be brutal).

The mammoth hot springs hotel in the north of the park, besides for being atmospheric, has a great room with old fashioned games, (think checkers etc. My 8 year old and 12 year old loved it.

I did it with 2 kids under 3, it's definitely doable and IME almost everything that was considered a must see was wheelchair/stroller accessible.

I would definitely stopping at the Old Faithful Inn as it is a pretty nice, old structure.  Watching Old Faithful erupt is also well worth it.
