people could '' shmooze'' about halacha right? ok so heres something I would like to find out: does anyone know whether rechilus(not lashon hora) applies even if its not true?(ex: bob says to tom: " josh told me you're hot tempered", causing tom to hate josh, when in fact josh never said that. bob made it all up). I know it applies to lashon hora but what about rechilus?

See Chofetz Chaim Hilchos Rechilus 1:4 that is mashma lehedya that it is included. The reason is poshut: the issur is causing machlokes, so it doesn't make a difference if it is true or false.

fyi I was looking everywhere for this ans I googled it and looked at diff sites(did you know theres a Christian forums that talks about lashon hora http://www.christianforums.com/threads/shmiras-halashon.47167/) but couldnt find anything. thanks a million!!!
