I知 not sure this belongs here but I値l ask it anyways. If I have a 20k purchase to make over the next few months, does it make sense to open a new credit card with 0% APR while buying a 1 year treasury with that 20k I would have used to pay it off? I will be earning upwards of 5% on that cash. Yes, I know my credit score may drop significantly, but it would only be temporary or I can open a business card instead.

I am doing that now with the Chase Ink business cards. You can open more than one for the SUB.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

How do you plan on converting the 0% APR into investable cash?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

By not paying the credit card for my purchases = more cash in my account

Take the money he would've used to pay off the CC bill and use it to buy T notes.

On Ink I charge 6k to get SUB. I pay the minimum each month and the rest (that I would pay off the balance) in T-bills. Not much but even low hanging fruit tastes good.

My apologies, I chose Fidelity because they have a bigger bonus (for under 25k)

Transfer your whole account and get both bonuses

...use it to buy T notes.
T-bills - 1 year or less
T-Notes - 2 to 10 years
T-Bonds - 20/30 years
Think I have that right.  :)

This was the beginning of churning and MS, even before points.

Close but probably the 5x-7.5x cards started it.
It was nice. Had about 2k/mo interest from 0% NBTF offers.

Lol, yup. Great call. Bonuses were lower, but interest rates were higher than 5% then (and banks would give out large credit lines pretty easily).

Interest rates are now the highest since 2007 so it is starting to make sense again.

Actually it is free money even at lower interest rates. The problem is the 0% NBTF are not what they use to be.
Also, many got in big trouble because they did not have the funds to pay off the balance when 0% ran out.

Talking about free money, anyone doing Fidelity Bloom?

The $50 SUB might be gone but still giving away free money in various ways. Also, while minors aren't eligible for Fidelity Bloom, IINM Fidelity gives $80 SUB for opening an account for a minor.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Interesting. 10% match on first 300. The $50 SUB is still there. Wonder if you get both?

My family members got both for the accounts that qualified. (It was basically free $86 just for moving $300 into Fidelity Bloom Save, and clicking on some activities on the Bloom app).

Unfortunately for my own account (unlike other family members) I made the mistake of funding it from an existing Fidelity account, so I missed the SUB. But I did get other free money, such as $1 per $10 charge on the debit card (now it's down to $0.10, but you get that amount also on a $0.50 Amazon reload). And still giving 5% match on savings beyond the first $300 (and both Spend and Save accounts aren't 0% checking accounts, but rather Money Market funds, and while not the highest yielding, 4.2% on a spending account is nothing to sneeze at).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Where is it shown?

The price was $97.4874, is there an easy way to calculate?
