The treasury did not announce it yet, but 9.62% is directly based on their calculation method. (Oh and I can send you links that say "will" too if you'd like.)
It still makes sense to buy the I bonds now correct? You get 9.62% for 6 months then whatever is decided on October which won't be zero, so its at least 5% per year?
wouldnt it make more sense to wait until sep or oct to see what the new rate will be? kind of like what you all did when you bought in April and knew what rate you would be getting for the whole year?
