But that's the problem with public schools and society as a whole, it has nothing to do with being black, just that there may be less dedicated teachers in predominantly black neighborhoods for whatever reason?
No, it has to do with the closing of black schools due to desegregation , and the fact that blacks are now overwhelmingly taught by white teachers who don’t relate to them and have changed the whole dynamic of black education. It’s not PC, and liberals will say it’s all worth it to fight the scourge of racism ( the same way they’ll throw $25,000 at a failing public school but won’t even consider a charter school system despite a successful track record) but it’s the truth. To quote the above articles:
“This lack of black educators has meant that black students are less valued in general. White teachers, typically women, who are educated in white neighborhoods and white universities, make up the majority of educators in minority classrooms. Many are fantastic, quality teachers and a gift to all students. But many are ill-equipped to meet the educational needs of black students. And studies indicate that they treat black children differently.
A 2012 study from the American Sociological Association found, “Substantial scholarly evidence indicates that teachers—especially white teachers—evaluate black students’ behavior and academic potential more negatively than those of white students.” Another longitudinal study shows that teacher expectations account for 42 percent of the difference between white and African-American students’ realization of their potential.”
“As Black children were put into an environment perceived as controlled by whites, the phenomenon of young Black kids equating academic excellence with “acting white” arose. In the Black schools, Black students largely cheered their classmates for achievements. But after desegregation created a clear division of white and Black, the association shifted and Black students began to tease one another by pushing their smart peers into the ‘white’ category. Ever since then, we have seen that Black kids tended to perform more poorly when mixed with whites.”
And of course, the education system directly relates to poverty, crime, public assistance, etc. When I see the way the average urban black male is trapped in a desperate existence with no future, a shortened life expectancy due to violence and substance abuse, a father figure that is usually MIA, or at least incarcerated, and a PC public policy and public assistance system that enables and perpetuates this hell on earth, it’s clear that despite ostensibly good intentions, these activists and policy makers are guilty of gross abuse, or at the very least, wanton neglect of a whole class of people who deserve much better.....
