Population might have doubled since then.
Selfish of whom? Skulen is a tiny kehila. It's for the expectation of an impossible gridlock. There will likely be tens of thousands of people.
Nothing to do with population....
Just going to add my 2 cents here, Skulen Rebbe was an erliche yid, just what his cronies made f him the last few year is pathetic, I still remember passing by in the afternoon years ago being asked to come in for minyan.
now this street closure is super crazy, crazy will be an understatement. Millions of people are not coming, and this is not Bnei Brak and most people work for a living and most won't be able to take the day off. Given that it's a cit where people live and work, I just got a call from my son's school that big chance there will be no pickup in the morning and "everyone should find their own means to get the kids to school". The radius that the streets are being closed also doesn't make scene, Skulen is by 13*54 so why is 60&61 Street being closed? I work there and it's gridlock everyday from local businesses that will struggle tomorrow with their clients why is it closed till 16th Avenue? thank god they aren't closing down 13th Avenue.
Same reason why by Yanky Mayer's flagship tehillim event in Bobov shul every year the surrounding streets gets closed for no normal reason.
