Vladislav Shain, 21, an active member of the Jewish community in Dnipro was killed last month while clashing with Russian invaders.

Shain studied at law school and enrolled as a volunteer to fight for the independence and freedom of Ukraine days after Russia launched its invasion on February 24.

I just learned about him in recent years and heard of the story of how he ended up getting close to Chabad in Daytona and building a school for them.

Yup meant to post it yesterday but got distracted. It is amazing how he and my grandfather grew up in upstate NY in the early 1900s and both dedicated their lives to being marbitz torah.
