I had a blast yesterday, it was awesome putting a face to all you guys!!!
I have never cut flights so close! I left Beachwood at 5:20am for the 50 mile drive to the CAK airport where I had a 6:40am flight.
CAK is easy though and I made it to the gate within 5 minutes of parking. Airtran paged me and had a Business Class boarding pass waiting for me at the podium. I had the entire 12 seat cabin to myself!
Avid Reader picked me up from LGA and drove me around all day-Thanks!!!
Everything even went surprisingly on time, it was neat to see everyone come into the bar at Clubhouse Cafe as we all tried to guess who they were. Especially when SF came in
There was a nice mix of guys from all backgrounds and ages. Yes, just guys at this party.
DDF picked up the $200 bar tab, sorry to the guys hoping for the $600 LM tab being picked up instead
We crossed over to LM at 4:30 where Chachem Balaileh found the owner who agreed to sit us upstairs. He was much nicer than many of the employees who were annoyed that we were working around them...
We all formally introduced ourselves at the dinner and we had tons of great conversation. People shared their own secrets and shtik they've done and good ones were met with thunderous applause.
I raffled off a DansDeals Vacation Concierge Package ($500 value), a tube of the famous Thomy mayo from Switzerland (thanks to yid for that donation!), and a beautiful Starwood Coffee table book.
Everyone in attendance also got a number of "labels" and luggage tags that will allow them to ship their luggage or electronics anywhere in the world for free...
The 4 hours seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye. Before I knew it it was already 7:20pm and I had just 85 minutes to get to LGA and make my flight. When I did finally get to LGA the security line was absolutely massive but I finally got a friendly agent to push me ahead in the line so that I was just barely able to make it to the gate before it closed. (My luck, the only time the nighttime LGA-CAK flight was on time is the one time I sure could've used a delay!)
All in all a great time, definitely look forward to doing it again!
