Looks like entrees are $26-$48 at Solo, with 30% off that's not too shabby!

Part of the problem with these fancy places (I don't know about Solo, I'm speaking in general terms) is that portions aren't always that big and appetizers, sides, desserts and drinks are all pricier as well, it adds up very quickly.

I indeed will bring one on the house (myself) and the rest can be prepaid.
Also, I know someone who manages the meat dept. of a certain kosher supermarket and can cut us custom made steaks, I once had by him a BBQ with like 2 inch steaks, awesome!

Then:

Scratch that, I won't be coming. June 24th is my wedding anniversary...

OMG, after your previous post you can't back out :P

Actually, as I like to say DOs are more about the company than the food (IMHO), so I'd hope he can make it as well :)

I only celebrate my Hebrew one and I knew all along that it was on a Sunday, although I just confirmed that it is the 24th.

Sorry for the OT but inquiry minds what to know. You have two different wedding anniversary dates?

The lunar calendar is ~11 days shorter than the solar one (with a leap year added to the Hebrew calendar at predetermined intervals to reconcile the two), so anniversaries on the Hebrew calendar don't always coincide with dates on the Gregorian one (and vice versa).

ETA: As usual, more info on Wikipedia.

That's nice of you to say, thank you. Unfortunately, as much as I love DDF, it only comes secondary to family.

OK so June 24th for dinner.

Time/place TBD.
Who's in and state your preference for where you would like it to be.

Isn't that when your wedding is?

I'd prefer Manhattan, as well.

Relatively cheap possibilities (along with the poss of getting reservations for 10+ ppl) are:

Le Marais;
Wolf and Lamb;
Mendy's (a bit cheaper even).

What airport would it be preferable for someone to fly into for this?

...reaaaaaally.... :)

Wedding is at 11am in NJ.

LM is awesome of course.
Never been to W&L.
Wasn't terribly impressed with Mendy's in CH when I was there when it opened, are the others better?

And what are your thoughts about 30% off at Solo?  I haven't been there either.

And of course we have the BBQ option as well, thanks AsherO!

I'm game for anything!

I just remember Solo being retardedly ridiculously expensive for what it was. And, even with the 30% off, they add a 20% service charge to the RSVP for groups 6+, so there goes most of that. Last, Solo doesn't seem like the best place for what this would be... seems a little more "buttoned-up" to me, whereas the others I mentioned aren't.

That said, if that's where it is, that's where it is.

Personally, I don't mind any of the three, but for the cost-conscious among us (wait, that should be most of us), I'd think Mendy's in the city would probably be a decent choice. There's actually one on Third Avenue which is in a public atrium of sorts which actually might serve DO purposes quite well. Only potential problem is that I'm not sure what time it closes, especially on a Sunday.

I'm game for LM or W&L Manhattan, I don't think any of the (decent) CH places are going to work for us, on a Sunday evening they'll all be packed.
