Lol...
I don't need any fancy cars...I drive a beat-up Chevy Minivan at home that I traded for a mileage ticket :)
The Caddy/Infiniti just becomes a fringe benefit of traveling when I go from a regular joe shmoe to getting treated like royalty by the airlines/car rental agency/hotels.

If someone wants to take me from LGA to the Ohel, LM, and back to LGA I won't say no to saving everyone a few bucks.
Well then me it is. in fact I'll take anyone else who is coming from LGA too if the timing works out.

Avid reader, still alive? YAY !

I guess your virtual guide didn't fail you.

Tell R' Banin regards from nullkosher discount/Grosnull. That's somehow me.

thanks! One of the best things for me when getting into Venice was having SF giving me step by step direction to my hotel via BB messenger!

I met up with another DD fan (hopefully soon to become a poster if I did a good job convincing him) and we had plenty to talk about over shabbos and at GAM GAM.

When I get some normal internet I'll post more...

Touchy subject?
I don't think linking to an article is under the "bashing" category.  Just reasons why I don't live there as others post reasons why they wouldn't live in CLE.
Seemed good-natured enough to me until now.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Absolutely. No need to alienate your NYC readers. We're all aware of the crime rate, no need to rub it in.

1 link to an article on crime (a subject that wasn't brought up in the previous 42 pages of debate AFAIK) is rubbing it in?

There weren't 42 pages of debate. Besides, it's been a bunch of posts since that discussion.

We all know CLE doesn't have the population/demographics of NYC (and can only speculate what would happen if it did).

Let's be intellectually honest please. A bullet point saying CLE has a lower crime rate would completely suffice for making your point.

Someone else brought up the NYC vs. narrow-minded Midwesterners such as myself and I merely added another counter-point.  A bullet point is hardly as effective or emotinal as an article.

Fair enough though, I'll bow out of the (bashing?) debate for now.

Precisely my point.

And whoever called you narrow-minded should look in the mirror more often :D

Many NY'ers have an unfortunate superiority complex...I hope that people that travel and get out of NY as much as DDF'ers do would rise above that.
+1
Someone else brought up the NYC vs. narrow-minded Midwesterners such as myself and I merely added another counter-point.
Ouch!
I'm not even going to TRY to defend myself, i think that was clearly taken out of context

am i still invited?!?

ok, i will defend myself.

1. i didnt make a big deal of Dan generalizing about the trouble local kids in la, even though its very possible he was actually (inadvertantly) referring to me much more than i was referring to him.
i took it like a man, with a joke, and actually i think Dan took what i said the same way

2. as was clearly stated many times throughout this, although there are issues with each place there are also solutions/ways to avoid it totally. and like Dan mentioned:
I hope that people that travel and get out of NY as much as DDF'ers do would rise above that.
and NECESSARILY regarding narrow mindedness, if indeed it would apply in the specific circumstances, what Dan said would be a clear antidote.

3. its not an unfamiliar thing for each place to have its own klipa. i don't understand what the offense is. the west coast is pust and nothing not even yiddishkait is real. europe has the opposite impression, with real tangible interferences with the appreciation of refined concepts. But on the other hand they can appreciate yiddishkait as a true thing, with much more substance than one lacking any relevancy in life at all. and it is each of our job to confront our own circumstances. Why is one an offence? and why any more than any other? maybe even the contrary is true

i think anyone who took these comments out of context should look in the mirror

Ayayay...
I thought this was all in good humor until AsherO's post, but it seems like everyone's taking things very personally.
Let's keep the thread on the topic of the DO so we'll still have left what to insult each other face to face :D

If any confirmed DO attendees want to try for Talia's for free you can post your referral link (one-time exception!) here.
If 3 people buy with your link then your purchase is free.
Noone posting their link here?  Already made a number of people's purchases free by posting their link on the main site.

Have you confirmed that they will let you combine a number of certificates?

It's still going but dozens of people have already bought their certs, I'd be surprised if people are still buying this late.
At any rate I think the format should look like this, with the link given after purchasing a deal:
https://livingsocial.com/deals/24254?ref=conf-jp&rpi=5974540
Did you purchase the deal yet?

Tell your wife to come along.

One member had a similar issue with his better part, and with a short example of the power of miles, she decided to repent (at least she was heading the right direction when I left).
