What do you mean?
I never pay money for flights, I always use points.
That is what I meant.

Only a fool uses miles for a domestic ticket purchase >2 weeks in advance.
Regardless I did check all the nonstop carriers from CLE or CAK to EWR, JFK, and LGA for saver mileage tickets (AA, CO, DL, FL).  There aren't any.

Ticket for cash? What kind of DD people bought this anyway?
Yeah, who is this Dan guy and what does he know about booking flights with miles?

Miles are free.
Free?
Miles are a currency just like cash is a currency.  Perhaps not quite as liquid and well-defined, but plenty of other currencies have similar characteristics.  There's a simple cost/benefit analysis that must be done every time.
That a 1L at a top-tier school would fail to recognize that astounds me!

Yes, but I decided that if I always wait to spend my miles until I can maximize their value, then I will never spend them. So now, if I am getting more than the "sale value" (if there were such a thing), then I just book it, since I can always get more miles.

Very weak argument.  You can also always get more money too!  Miles are a scarce commodity just as cash is.  You should use them when it makes sense, save them when it makes sense, and if you want, sell them when it makes sense.

If you are willing to use 25,000 miles for a $284 ticket then you're not playing the game correctly.  Regardless, there aren't any 25,000 miles tickets for 04/03 so the point here is moot.  You were quick to criticize without even investigating the basic facts at hand for this case.

Isn't EWR on the AA list for this month, so then you get 7500 off, and if you book one ways like some people did then you get 7500 off each way?

Is this what they teach in law school?  I'm happy I got an MBA!
Investigate the facts before speaking sir!
1. AA doesn't fly CLE-EWR
2. I already said there were no RT saver tickets from CLE or CAK to EWR, JFK, or LGA for 04/03.
3. People are getting 3,750 off a one-way, not 7,500 off a one-way.

My school has an excellent business school also.

Why didn't you use your Capital one flying dollars from the matching points credit card?

They do indeed.  Perhaps you'll consider a double major?

Yes, as I said:
Lock in at $280.40 tonight or roll the dice and hope for a mid-week fare sale?
I've been waiting for quite a while now, but the fare sales haven't applied to Sunday flights at all.  Optimal pricing is typically mid-week between 3-7 weeks before the flight.  If it does go down it won't be by much.
But anyways, if the price was in the 320's how did you get for $280?
I have a corp account that lets me hold fares for 1 day.

It's not exactly hard to figure out who you are...can't be too careful!

It's interesting how some route's are just more expensive, regardless of the fact that they are less miles. The distance to Florida is significally longer from NY, using more fuel, yet the prices are generally cheaper.

Competition+Price the market will bear=Market price.
Zero correlation to the distance traveled.
