Luggage Sets

Looking for some advice.

I'm planning on getting a luggage set and would like to know if anyone has advice on hard shell vs. soft shell luggage.

I bought the samsonite hard shell that was on the DDMS 2 years ago. Was discounted by 80% via a lightning deal really like it. The carry on doesnt have an outside zipper which is a pita

Did 15 flights last year with samsonite hard shell luggage. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about either the suitcase or its contents being crushed or bent out of shape. I find it's also usually easier to identify coming off the conveyor belt

IMO what I didn't like about the hard cover is that they usually have the zipper in the middle and it's hard to close without having things falling out if place.

I find as long as you close the straps inside the suitcase it stays ok

Also I like that there are 2 different parts of the suitcase (top & bottom). I usually put food & frozen stuff on one side and everything else on the other side
