One drive is not backup. It will get deleted as soon as it is deleted on the computer

My documents are on onedrive, but not local.  If I delete then it means I don't want it on the cloud as well.

IINM, there is a recycling bin on OneDrive. An issue would be if you delete part of a document and then save it, but I don't think any backup software would help that.
Or ransomware. This si the importance of having some older backups.

Random story:

A chosuveh rov once mistakenly deleted 13-pages of Torah that was set to go in a sefer, and then he saved the file empty. I managed to get it back for him by doing a system restore.

Although it's been more than a decade, he still thanks me every time I meet him.

It's also not great to rely on only physical backups.

I know someone who lost both his computer and his backup in this fire. Along with a number of programs he wrote.

Backblaze

Local Raid + One Drive + Backblaze for versioning
Always praying for delayed baggage.

And if malware deleted it or changed it?

+1 although fire proofing shouldn't be all that difficult.

They support external drives?
Meaning having a local backup to an external drive? (yes)
Or backing up an external drive to the cloud? (I think so but I'm not sure)

I used Crashplan until they got rid of the plan I was on. Switched to Backblaze and been happy with it.
This.

Any advantage to  Backblaze over Crashplan other than price? (assuming you're not paying for the "forever" plan)

I'm paying for the 12-month option.

Other than the fact that Crashplan eats up 1GB of RAM for every TB being backed up, would stop working for months on end without letting me know, and kept on screwing up my account, I'd say they're about equal :P.

Oh, and the initial backup took under a month compared to over six. When I come back from a trip it tells me that the new folder is fully backed up in a suspicious amount of time, but when I double check by initiating a restore it is indeed all backed up.

I run Backblaze at 30 threads (the max allowed). I find that the processing load is negligible compared to fewer threads, but the upload speed is just insane.

I run my entire business on Dropbox, works seamlessly, quickly, and has always been great. It's also good to have backup stored in the cloud.

With this at stake - I beg you to look into real backup solutions. Dropbox isnt a backup.

Tell me more. Why isn't it a real backup and what can be done better?

If you're attacked by ransomware (ch"v; and I know it'll never happen to you, but humor me) -- Dropbox doesn't have sufficient versioning to save you from that.

Crashplan
Backblaze
are good cloud backups (not free, but well worth the money - think of it as digital insurance).

TimeMachine (OSX) and Windows File History are local backup solutions (which still leave you vulnerable for a physical loss since they're just saving files to another hard drive locally)  - they both have have versioning and are free and built into their respective operating systems.

Crashplan used to hog ram and network usage. Haven't had any issues with Backblaze.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I want to mention for windows you can create a system image which basically takes a complete image of the OS and everything on it, not just files like file history saves. In case anything goes wrong the system image returns everything exactly to the state it was in.
Only drawback is you can’t restore partial- it’ll restore it in one piece as it saved so it can be recommended to create a system image each night to replace the previous backup.
Also this backup would need more storage to hold the OS (at least 40-50 gb) but not a ton if you’ll replace the image each night
nothings impossible- the word itself says Im possible
