Any value in knowing award tickets will be cancelled?
« on: June 08, 2015, 01:26:07 AM »
Is there any value in knowing that a bunch of award tickets (7 of them) will be cancelled for a certain upcoming flight (JFK-TLV)? Is there any specific value in knowing exactly when they will be cancelled?

I have 7 award tickets booked for JFK-TLV-JFK in a few weeks. Unfortunately, we will not be taking the trip and I will be canceling those tickets soon. The question is - is there any value in the knowledge of when exactly I cancel those award tickets to someone else? At a minimum, it will instantly open up 7 seats on those flights, but I am not sure if those seats will show up as award inventory or not.

Ah, now I understand. I don't know the answer. Care to share which dates the tickets are booked for ?

What did you book them with? Delta or flying blue?

Found 7 seats together with a normal redemption? Nice!

Yes, low-ish redemption rate, on Delta, 7 seats together (almost a miracle to find 7 on one plane!).

Wasn't thinking about "selling" per se, but wondering if anyone could have an advantage knowing exactly when I release those seats/awards.

I don't think the OP is looking for money. He used the term "value "to see if anyone would appreciate it.

OP, if I may ask, you said it was low'ish. May I know exactly what the redemption was?

Are you looking to make money or just to do a favor?

More importantly does someone know if they become available right away?

I think they were about 100,000 miles per ticket (FLL-JFK-TLV-JFK-FLL).

I wasn't even thinking about money, I was just asking a question if there is any value to the information or if somehow the airline just folds those seats into various other classes of inventory (maybe high classes so they can make a lot more on those seats due to last minute pricing).

100k is not bad. However, assuming you can buy revenue tickets for around $1300 you really don't get a great value out of the points.

Still, what is your question? You wanna post the dates you're booked on before you cancel them so on the chance they go back to inventory someone can grab them if they want?
