Personally, I think I prefer first option.

The second option would be much more grueling adding two segments to a trip that is already grueling.

The second trip you'd lose PH NRT, where I've never stayed, not sure if you have, but which is supposed to be fantastic. Also, option B basically relegates us to 7 hours in a lounge in NRT, but more importantly, those 7 hours will be *tough* coming off of running around in ROR, then not being able to sleep the entire night before hand. We'd be zombies.

You get over it when your having a good time, speaking from experience after the grueling 30+ hours each way in economy to South Africa.
