I honestly can't even imagine what would have happened if we did that. Would have been disastrous.

Could it have been a pain? Sure.

But disastrous is not a characterization with which I agree.

Worst comes to worst, we would simply not get on the plane to MNL, we'd skip ROR, and then delete the ROR-GUM segment from our next award.

Even though that isn't *terrible* what I think would have ended up happening is that we would have talked our way onto them rebooking us GUM-ROR anyway.

No way. We would have had no irr-ops noted on the itin.
Without irr-ops they would have laughed at us. Even as it was it was a pain to push through what we did.

Even if I agree with the above--which I don't--the bottom line is that disastrous isn't an accurate characterization considering we could have simply just gone straight to NRT, as we almost did anyway...

I don't have any real life friends or family who were remotely jealous.

So the ideal scenario in that case would have been the roach motel in GUM, no ROR and no NRT.
