Your receipt will have your answer.

Real life situation. Buying 200+ cases of soda (24 in case). They scan only one case. Can I use the 10 or less lane?
Why in the world not? You'll take less time than the guy with 1 banana and 1 apple.

The receipt is irrelevant. Ask the checkout person, or better yet the manager, what their role of goodrules are for express, and then you'll really have your answer.

That's how I interpret the 10 "items" lane. It doesn't say 10 things, says "items" as long as you have from the same item, it's intended for you.

IIRC in the book "traffic", he says that studies were done that by road construction, it benefits every body if the merging lane would remain full till the it merges.

Most big supermarkets have their machines set up not to allow more than X amount of items - I wonder what would happen in CM's scenario.

LOL My thought exactly. I figured out that the custom lines in TLV are stagerred, so the longest line might be the shortest. Also families go all together so are quicker than the equivelant amount of lone travelers. I still inevitably get stuck  in the slowest line though.

lol

I am absolutely impassable, FTR.  I also am completely guilty here.

I feel bad every time I merge into the exit from 91 to 84 on the way back to BOS at the last second, but not bad enough to wait in line for 2 miles.  Also, I make up for it by tailgating the people in front of me into going faster, so that it is better for everyone behind me.

The trick to merging or stopping a merge in stop and go, is to not make eye contact.

Why don't you take the 684-84 the whole way back?

I merge last minute all the time. Luckily LA drivers are nice enough to let it slide each and every time.

LA drivers are dangerously nice.  They do stupid things out of niceness.  But I like it anyway
