Stop thinking about how to solve problems and do what everyone else does. Jeez it's like you think you have a brain to use.
K sorry. I'll get in line like a sheep  ;)
[sarcasm font]In general I'm not okay with the concept of one car going faster than others in the left lane. I think they should have 1 lane highways so everyone gets to their destination in the order in which they entered the highway. #fairisfair  [/sarcasm font]

So I assume you believe it's ethically wrong to use an app like fast caller or have United call you since you didn't 'do your time' waiting in a line right? ;)

Now why on earth would you assume that?

Okay how about this one: You're approaching a red light on a 2 lane road. There are 20 cars waiting in the right lane and 5 cars waiting in the left lane. With the 'no passing stopped cars' rule you should need to wait in the right lane correct?

You're on the Staten Island Expressway and there's a parallel service road that's empty. Is it okay to take that lane and 'pass stopped cars'?

Let's say I'm walking on the sidewalk, and there's a gigantic pothole on the road. Should I bike into the street to open my Snapple, or just go to the urinal at the Holland Tunnel to sign on the dotted line?

You continue to demonstrate how you miss the other point. unless this is intentional... #strawman

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

How are you solving problems? The people merging in later make it worse not better
1. That's not necessarily true, in this type of case. 2. If both lanes are used it doesn't back up as far on the highway. That's just how it is.

It's okay to pass stopped cars as long as you aren't going to cut in front of them in a minute or two.

I'm not addressing the picture anymore. I'm addressing the various driving etiquette rules that have been espoused in the ensuing discussion. The most troublesome one was the not continuing on your entrance ramp!

Even if you're right. That's only true if every one will do that but the reality is everyone's waiting on one line and you're cutting... if there a long line to get on a bus or a ride ave everyone's waiting on one line and you think it would be faster if there was 2 lines so you just walk up to the front and go on... Let's see how that goes?

What if there were 2 lines for the ride that merged several hundred feet away. One line was packed with people and the other empty?
