Here in BOS, many if not most drivers assume they can make a left on green if they are first in line, although that is the only aggressive thing they do.  I make sure to quickly accelerate while steering right to intercept.

Here in BOS, many if not most drivers assume they can make a left on green if they are first in line, although that is the only aggressive thing they do.  I make sure to quickly accelerate while steering right to intercept.

Boston is one of the most aggressive cities to drive in that I've ever been in, and I'm a NYer and have been in Israel.

Same reason I won't cross the street if a car stops for me when I'm not in a crosswalk. Its dangerous because the cars behind them don't expect it, and because cars coming the other way or in the other lane the same way may not see the pedestrian.

Your math is off. Your counting only my 5 seconds against his minute that he's have to wait for all the cars behind me. But you need to count the 5 seconds of all the cars behind me. Which will add up to pretty close to the same amount.

My biggest annoyance with turning lanes is when there's no signage (or I don't notice any) about turning lanes until like 50 feet before the light and I end up cutting off a bunch of pissed off locals.
