darn! i just applied for the 25K hoping to get it up to +5+25+mileathon bonus. maybe i should have just settled with the 50K and get the CO world card with that app for use here in israel.

Huh? The 25+5+$50+mileathon is the same OnePass Plus card as the 50k offer.

Just the business world card works in Israel.

oh. i just checked again. The 25K card doesn't say world as clearly as the 50k:
ONEPASS PLUS CARD: You will first be considered for a World MasterCard. If you do not qualify for that product, you will automatically be considered for a Platinum MasterCard, which has different fees, benefits and credit availability.
but i guess it is the same card.
anyway its not nogea as you clearly pointed out. I didn't notice the word Business on YudiG's post.

If there are no cards that cover liability insurance and you have no regular car insurance do you generally buy Liability insurance?

Also which card in that situation is best for rentals?

I use the Sapphire Preferred MC for insurance in Israel. No foreign exchange fee. Just get the email as mentioned above before you travel.

What do you mean that the cards don't cover liability? I thought that was the point of the protection offered by the card.

They cover CDW, collision. Not personal liability. Still a big savings.

I'm new to renting cars.
Which card is better for rentals in US, Amex Blue or United Explorer?

AFAIK the United is Primary while the Amex is Secondary.
So United seems better. Am I missing something here? Does Amex cover anything better or should I not even consider it and just stick to the United card?
Everyone I know (not on DDF) swears by using Amex for rentals, are they wrong?

99.999% of credit cards do not cover liability. Credit cards cover collision which will help cover damage to the rental vehicle only. From my experience, Amex is one of the better cards when you sign up for there extra coverage.

i have a $160 rental with Avis in Europe, i was gonna use my sp as its out of the usa its primary insurance and 2.14 ppd, i also have a ink MasterCard that gives me 5% off while renting with Avis and also gives primary rental insurance

which one should i use?

I just got the Plat MB at the end of April, met the spend, and got my bonus points. I called today to downgrade to green and get the AF refunded, but I was told that I would have to pay the AF for Green ($95), and the only way to get first year free is to reapply for it. Is that for real, or should I HUCA? I would just cancel, but I don't have any other cards to keep my MR points.

Yes as long as the whole rental is on the car and you do decline insurance.
