Just spoke with AA and I think I might add a leg for the fall to Hawaii since there is some availability in the timeframe I interested in going. Thanks for the tip!

I am in a bit of a pickle and would love some advice... I currently have seats on hold for a few more days for mileage tickets but I think I will need more than that to be sure the dates, times, cities, etc. are all correct. I just called AA and there is not so much wiggle room in terms of availability so I am nervous to go the cancel and rebook immediately route in case someone else is also trying to get the seats. Any suggestions as to how to rebook without taking this risk (I understand that their may be no way around this).
Pray, cancel, and rebook.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Pray, cancel, and rebook.
Or, add 16 BA segments ;)

If I were to start a new booking with a departure the day before to the same place will that cancel out my already existing one as it would if I booked a new one for the same date?

If not ever touching the exact same flight and date as your previous booking ones, you shouldn't have a problem.

AA are normally pretty tough on duplicate bookings. If they catch on they'll cancel them.

Pray, cancel, and rebook.

In that order? Is it like lather, rinse, repeat?

Being that you are entering the US at LAX and not connecting, why not add a leg to Hawaii for a future vacation?
AA allows a stopover at the gateway city so it won't cost you anything.

What are the cancellation policies regarding doing this? Meaning, if later on (after I get back from my Europe trip) but before the fall when my flight to Hawaii is for I decide to cancel my trip there, are there penalties? Should I just not show up for the flight?
