Topic Wiki

Here is my Excel template to keep track of all of my credit card stuff.

The first tab contains the instructions. I included some of my own entries as examples so you will know what to fill in where.

I put in almost everything possible I could think of. Only thing I'm missing that I didn't get around to adding is the spending bonuses by category (e.g. travel, gas, etc.).

Enjoy. If you have any suggestions, comments, or improvements, Please let me know, I'd love to fix it.

Update- when editing, DO NOT modify any of the tables in the Dashboards (except expected money and debts), ONLY modify data in the Credit Card master sheet and Bank master sheet. The Dashboards contain what is called Pivot Tables and they automatically update when you refresh the data.

I'm not sure how to include an attachment in a wiki, so the file can be downloaded from the first post in this thread.

Does this mean one is taking advantage and pricing according to the others lack of knowledge?

No. Its usually all about what you can deliver. Its up to the user to decide if they want that service and if its worth the price or not. Same with tutoring IME. I can guarantee you Grade X for price X. You have to decide if thats worth it to you or not. My price doesn't change if you rather settle for Grade X-1

I'm an account and again, if I charged 1500 per workbook I would be a multi millionaire!

But meanwhile I'm in an office full of "professionals" who do this all day for basically minimum wage..

I guess if u market yourself well enough, you could actually be rich whatever your skills...

Something is wrong with these people if they got an accounting degree and are earning minimum wage.

So which of the following is it:

1. You're exaggerating.
2. Maybe they got the degree but aren't quite that good at what they do.
3. Accounting is a lousy field to be in.
4. Some combination of the above.
5. Something else?

Wow. I'm amazed at the responses...
It's a nice spread sheet with a few pivot tables. The input fields are minimal (not sure why ppl are complaining about to much info..) and the formulas are pretty basic.

I was the first one to +1 this, but if this is worth $1500 I would be a millionaire!

#spend my life working in excel

so now that i know that you know how to work excel, let me ask you, what should i improve on the workbook? any feedback? is the color scheme off or too much?

they start out at minimum since they are dying to get employed by an accountant and once they prove themselves they start making nice money

5. Something else?

1. Starting salary for big 4 accountants is ~ 55k . calculate by hour, working ~80 hr weeks for 3 plus months = close to minimum wage.

2. Big 4 hire the best they can get. We're talking about people who know how to use excel pretty well for the most part.. Definitely capable of putting together the attached template..
Not necessarily accountants with 20 years experience

3.YES!!!

Wow, Impressive work!

I have always wanted to learn Excel in more detail, and now I can see some of the stuff it can do.  Can you (and others) please share how to & where to learn lots of really neat stuff about Excel.
+1 would also love to learn Excel.

I learned a lot from reading through excel's help file. The whole thing.

It was years ago, though.

Every time you want to know how to do something, google it. Read everything you find :). When you're bored, google "excel tricks". When you're bored again, go through every single button in the ribbon and figure out what it does.

Nothing like a little desire for knowledge :)
