I have heard (not sure of the source) that the last flight of the day always goes, so that they have the equipment in place for the next day

BTW I am sitting in Sky Lounge now and clearly see flights taking off.

I've had 2 last of the day flights cancelled after hours of delays but there was extreme weather

Ugh, they just delayed it another 10 minutes. Estimated now to leave at 11:40pm.

Thanks, all you guys. I got home.

The DL 10:30pm out of JFK didn't take off until after midnight but it did eventually take off. I was in the car heading home by 1:40 AM.

I can't express how good it feels to know I have a community of brilliant people looking out for me!

Not quite so, agreements are one on one. For example, DL out of TLV will rebook you on LY but not on UA, BA requires from AF 3 days advance purchase and so on

In my particular case, the aircraft that was flying JFK-PIT had to come in from Charleston. As soon as it touched down (at 11:10pm, they had us boarding within 20 minutes.)

You should have seen the lightning from above the clouds. My friend was placed on standby for 6:30 am and bh got on although he was #17!

Freddie I hope you don't mind me hijacking your post. Plane just got turned back to gate at fco due to mechanical issues, I have a feeling were not going anywhere soon- are there any flights going back to the N.Y. /Toronto area tonight or early tomorrow or do I get to spend shabbos in Venice? I tried pulling something up on ita but all I have is my phone and it's finding nothing.
