United Club
« on: June 28, 2015, 04:03:46 PM »
I couldn't find a thread for this (!). If there already is one, I apologize in advance.

If I'm a member of the United Club, and flying domestic first class, do I have a chance of getting into the First Class lounge at EWR?

The real question is why does JFK have one? Happens to be one of the worse UA Clubs I've been to. LAX T8 downstairs one is under construction now, but it's starting to look really nice. But nothing can beat the JFK Delta Sky Club, which was very conveniently situated right next to the El Al gate at JFK T4. While I hate their planes, I loved the club. Guess the reverse applies for UA.

Holdover from PS F service.

I doubt it's much nicer than the rest of that dump, I mean terminal.

United's "Strengthening of our Hub in Newark" is just a poor excuse to not improve on service. A family member recently flew AA in F transcon and was blown away. I took UA p.s. and it was so mediocre, I'm just snatching regular domestic First availability from EWR.

Does anyone have experience with the showers at the EWR club?

Yes, have never waited more than 30-45 minutes even in the early A.M. coming in on UA 91 from TLV.  Assume there is less interest in showers in Terminal A (United Express/regional flights).  Overall EWR and the UA Clubs there are nothing special and often overcrowded, loud and dirty.

I believe only terminal C has showers in EWR

Are the showers themselves sanitary? I'm taking a late flight and would like to shower/change beforehand so I can sleep better.

Must be new, either they were removed or UA website simply doesn't reflect it.  I definitely showered in A2 in summer 2011.

About same standard and level of cleanliness as a hotel or locker room shower.  The extent of their cleaning is suspect, some contract workers just dry everything off.  Who knows how often they get a deep cleaning if ever.

You're right; just paid a visit. Like a 3 star hotel. Not sure about locker room, though.

Find out what time they close the showers. IIRC last time I was there it was 10pm and the showers were closed even though the lounge was still open.
