I called up today to confirm amount and the rep could not find the promo number that was on my account. Currently there's  a promo for just 1000 and he said that will work. I specifically asked him if that's the case even if I signed up with different offer and he confirmed. I took down his name. Has anyone had experience with Canadian Amex like this? Also if that's the case I figured maybe I should just buy gift cards the remainder. Anybody know if the gas  companies offer gc's without fees?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I'm sorry I was unclear. There is the same offer currently to get 20000 points, though you only need to spend $1000 not $2000. The rep told me I qualify for this offer even though I signed up with a different offer that would have required I spend more to receive the 20000 points. I want make sir this is correct. I don't want them telling me later that I won't get the bonus points cuz I only spent $1000

spend the $1000, call for the bonus, once you get it spend another $1000 (and your original bonus should kick in automatically)
obviously that's not supposed to happen, and you can't call to ask for it, but it's been known to happen

I got the Canadian Starwood with 20k bonus. Any suggestions to reach threshold?
I am in Canada for the weekend and stopped by some gas stations. It seems some of them charge a fee for activating their gc (about $5 on a $100 card). Esso does not charge any fee for their cards. I thing I'm gonna buy $500 worth and either have my parents use them over the next couple months and/or try to sell them. It would also be an eitzah for those needing to reach a theshold on the Chase Saphire, as they don't charge a foreign transaction fee.

I didnt realize the 120 annual fee does not count towards $1000 limit and am now about that short. I tried buying online bit there is $250 minimum to buy online.

New RBC British Airways offer.
50k Avios after 5k spend.
Much better than the last RBC BA card.

I would imagine it takes a few days to post like Amex U.S.

Very tempting but I dont think its worth the annual fee and prob can't spend 5,000 in 3 months.

It's deff worth the annual fee for me but the 5k seems tough.
I wonder how AP would work with this card.
