Won't get any status by transferring points.

I feel keeping it will give me better value in the long run if I'll use the points myself, rather than selling for what's being offered these days,

You will definitely get more value using it yourself.

Transferring to an airline really kind of needs some kind of idea where you would want to go.

Also if you transfer it to an airline some brokers won't buy those accounts.

I'm considering closing the chase cc, not sure yet, though want to explore the best options for the points and for my wallet

Just keep them all in your Freedom until you are ready, then get a higher card to transfer them out.

+1   you can devalue your points very drastically if you make any of the other transfers or changes

A card that has an annual fee, like the Sapphire Preferred or INK Plus, which allow transfers to partners.

I 2nd that!
I (almost) never sell my points you usually loose at least 30% the worth in some cases (like UA) you loose more than 50% by selling em'!

According to my sources in the feild UR will probably go up due to Ba - Amex devaluation.

No way UR goes up because of the Amex/BA deval. Many BA points out there to be had on the cheap.

BA actually might go up slightly as you get less BA points from each amex transfer. (people wont transfer from Amex probably anymore unless there is a promotion). Plus you only earn 1 PPD vs 1.25 PPD on the BA card as in the months past...

If you can use your points you are much better off that way. Just do some reading here on DDF.

Slightly ot,  but that might free up some ba availability (since it is more points)  and end up good for us who use the points
