Hotels.com Rewards Program
« on: July 01, 2015, 12:24:02 PM »
Hi All, didn't find a thread for this. Anyone else use this website to make their hotel bookings? Thought I'd post it here as many people I know don't know about it. The way it works is that after 10 stays they give you 1 night free with the average value of the previous 10 nights. If you help people book their hotel rooms (not with points) might as well use this site & earn free nights. Ive gotten non refundable rooms refunded by being a gold member (although its not a given). You can use any CC to book, doesn't have to be exclusively yours.
For some this thread is an obvious one, but I'm sure some people didn't know about this.

I used it once for a paid stay, thinking of it as 10% cash back.

Problem is I haven't had a paid stay since then, and my points will expire.

So basically I would credit the points I earn from a stay to Hotels.com as opposed to say Marriott or united?

Same here. Maybe works well for someone like Chapshnell described, but not for the occasional traveller who even less occasionally pays cash for a hotel.

Both. Book through hotels.com and they'll give you a stay credit. Add your Marriott number to the ressy and you'll get Marriott credit too.

It wont work for SPG stays though. Confirmed. Not sure about Marriott.
Stays never expire. Reward night for sure not.

You're both right, they just changed the program & they put in a expiry date secretly without telling anyone. They just emailed their list that the name changed from welcome rewards to hotels.com rewards. Either way nights expire a year after earning them if you didnt get 10 nights yet

Seems to me that as long as you have any activity in your account within 12 months it restarts the expiration date (kind of like the airlines)

I used it with spg once and had no issues. Also they have amazing cs. Any issues with hotel and you can just go to them directly and they usually provide a hotels.com credit

I've used them extensively before I started accumulating points, got quite a few free nights. FYI they are sister companies with Expedia.

The annoying thing is even though you can usually find a ten percent off code, then it doesn't count towards free night. So it's really the same 10% either way

I'd rather take 10% today than a possible 10% of expiring nights next year..

In a way yes, but keep in mind that if you almost hit your free night then it's getting you closer to ten percent back on all previous stays
