Ok so then it looks like it's best to use different miles to fly on AA/UA to LAX and then use AS from there. Super duper.

Looking at LAX-PPT on AF. AS shows 40K in Y and no availability in J; AF/KLM both show random amounts ranging from 30K-90K for Y + YQ as well as J for 180K.

Will the J seats ever open up to AS?

They have access. It's like most other partnerships, they only have access when it is available at the lowest price

Here's the breakdown when you click on it:

One might think both legs are in J, but when searching for just LAX-SYD, there's no J space...

I thought AS tells you when only a mixed cabin flight is available.

The second image was what popped up when I clicked "1 stop" but now that I clicked on 55K, I see you're right.

How long does it take to transfer miles from Alaska Airlines to BA or Flying Blue? Their mileage and taxes to/from Israel are pretty bad 50K miles each way (or am I doing something wrong?)

You can't transfer AS to BA or FB.
