If you would have been at the Teaneck seminar, you would have known. This question was asked there.
But what's spoken about at seminars is to be published with instructions on other websites and then get killed

Is there a difference to the passenger experience between the two?

If I was a pilot I'd go Boeing.

Even considering situations like AA 965?

You're bringing me a case from 95? What about AF447?

Bottom line, there are pros and cons to each system, it boils down to personal preference.

My point was, there are situations that could have been avoided with a fly by wire system. In AA965, assuming disengaging the speedbrake would have helped, a fly by wire system would have done that automatically and saved the plane, whereas in reality the pilots forgot to do it.
What about AF447?
From my limited research, I haven't found anything that was caused by the fly by wire system. Although I do agree there were other incidents that were. The question is, which is better overall.

I agree. I'm just curious why yours is Boeing.

AF wasn't caused by the FBW system directly, but everyone seems to agree that the heavy reliance on the FBW system caused the pilots stick and rudder skills to degrade so they couldn't execute (what should have been) a pretty straightforward stall recovery.

Agav, just to show that Airbus isn't all bad, everyone seems to agree that if US1549 wouldn't have been an Airbus it would not have finished the way it did. The FBW systems is what allowed Sully Sullenberg to focus on landing properly without worrying about a stall on the way.

I agree. I'm just curious why yours is Boeing.
The way I understand the difference, Airbus tries to eliminate human error by giving most of the control to the computer, the pilots simply CAN'T do certain things (e.g. stall the plane), while Boeing gives more control to the pilots and has more faith in their judgement. There are  Ma'alos and Chesronos, on the one hand human error is one of the biggest factor in accidents on the other hand, computers are far from perfect, they can't be programed for every eventuality, and sometimes a pilot has to know when he SHOULD override the computer.

In the end of the day, as said, it boils down to preference. Personally I like the idea of actually being in control, others like the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have a reliable safety net. And being that my chances of ever flying a Boeing OR an Airbus are close to nil this doesn't matter anyways :)

True, but the question is, what do you fly when you're using a fight simulator.

A380 is definitely the smoothest ride due to sheer size. 787 has great oxygen but a bit cramped.

From my experience, flight with Airbus was usually calmer, smoother, and more pleasant, plus the engines make less noise, vs the Boeing.
Something like; Toyota vs Chevy IMHO.
