You sure?
Some are from Rolls Royce, some from GE etc...
Yes. Each plane can have a choice of engines to use and each engine has a few planes it can be used on.

As a random example from Wikipedia, the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 can be used on the A300,  A310, A330, 747-400, 767, 777, Boeing KC-46 and McDonnell Douglas MD-11.

They use the same ones.
IIRC on the Boeing tour they said that the new dream liners where getting new engines designed exclusively for those planes.

Those aren'tMaalos Airbus or Boeing, they are specific to those airplanes.
Nothing is stopping Airbus from developing a plane that uses those engines.

And being that my chances of ever flying a Boeing OR an Airbus are close to nil this doesn't matter anyways :)
Why are you grounded?
So sad to see a ddf'er with their wings clipped :-\
Reminds me of the scene in "Up in the air" where Goarge Cloony is grounded and hes stareing longingly at the airplane through the terminal window.

Ahh so basically this conversation has absolutely no practical ramifications for us passengers because nothing is exclusive to either other than the system.
So lets change the q (to what I thought it was in the beginning anyway), A380 or 747?

Generally speaking 10 year old planes are preferable to 50 year old planes...

I dunno I just don't think of the 380 as a beauty. It's huge, it's powerful, I watch it land over my house a few times a day and it gives off the impression of a lumbering beast.

The 747-800, now THAT'S a beauty.

I would classify them like this, the 380 is the king of the skies while the 747 is the queen.

Airbus or Boeing?

I'd rather PC over Mac and android over iOS because I claim to have enough understanding of how the system runs to decide for myself what I want my phone/computer to do for me.
When it comes to cars, it's definitely easier to drive automatic but there's something to Manuel that one can't deny.
Note, when it comes to aircraft design, I'm not sure pilots are generally confident enough to say "I have enough understanding of how the system runs to decide for myself what I want the plane to do".

Although, there definitely are times when even a simple pilot can save a Boeing whereas if he would be flying an Airbus three would be nothing he can do.

If you would have been at the Teaneck seminar, you would have known. This question was asked there.
But what's spoken about at seminars is to be published with instructions on other websites and then get killed
