You can also tell by seeing when it gets declined. Their system blocks it right after you swipe before pressing credit. If its blocked by the issuer it happens after pressing credit.

Whenever this has happened to me it is after the pos says 'approved,' but before the signature panel appears.

Lol. It's funny. I had to convince the guy I can buy vgc w/ cc. He didn't want to but I told him to try and what do you know? It worked. Also wanted a slurpee afterwards. Lol
