If it makes any difference, the ones I'm going to buy are made in Israel.
Also, if I buy them in the US, what's the cheapest place? I've been told Grand Sterling on Ave J. Anybdy agree or disagree?

IME US is cheaper even for Israeli made silver goods.

Wherever you can negotiate your best deal will be the best place to buy.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

IME the cheapest place to get silver from is Tiferet at 39 Rechov Me'a She'arim, but I am not sure if he has the specific item you are looking for. The prices on the tags are already good prices but you should bargain to get high discounts.

I don't know where it's cheaper for the base price but if you buy it in Israel you can get back the VAT tax in the airport if you are in Israel on a tourist visa which translates to at least a 7-8% discount if you buy it in NYC where sales tax is a little more then 8% or NJ where it's 7%

Tax in Israel is 17%, so if you could find someone that would give you a cheaper price then the one on the receipt you could end up getting back a nice sum. HY.

Most or let's say lots of the silver is made or distributed in Israel! Haddar -Hazorfim....assuming the place of manafature is cheaper then what it cost for a store which purchased it off the company!

And in Israel ime- the Manu  company's stores are the most expensive! (Hadad and hazorfim) ...
Also had good experiences at tiferes on mea shearim, and he claims can get you any item you see at the many stores at large discount...
(May find better in private houses ...)

I second that, Hadad and Hazorfim are straight out rip offs. The guy at Tiferes will also give you a tax form.

I don't know about candlesticks but I bought a couple of Choson Bechers and the following two stores in Yerushalayim were way cheaper than any on Malchei Yisroel/Meah Shearim or NY.

There used to be 2 silver stores on Strauss near Yafo which were always very cheap. No recent experience there though.

Careful though- cause I have found many items in Israel are cheaper because are made with less silver and are very thin and fragile ...

Think you can get better prices in Canada being that the exchange rate is at .76˘ for every 1$ or the prices all went up?
