You realize you're arguing against your own opinion, right?

Also, there are myriad pitfalls with the AGC, not the least of which is liquidating.

Also, at 3x, you'd have to *spend* twice as much, meaning you'd have to *liquidate* twice as much, as compared to VGC at 6x.

We all know I'm a cash-out-of-pocket guy. I'd rather earn 1ppd than 6ppd and not have to pay fees, while also making a small profit. I'm not sure which pitfalls you're talking about, but there are still plenty of stores that take AGC for VGC and plenty of Targets that take VGC. It might mean getting hold of more RedCards, but that's not difficult.

So, again, you're arguing against your initial opinion.

To make it clearer, you'd need to spend $25K for a stay at a top-tier Hilton (I'd need half that, but it would cost more), whereas you'd need 30K for a top-tier Hyatt and God knows how much for a top-tier SPG.

Hiltons generally are not cheap awards.

While I agree you only get 1 ppd for SPG, why would you need 30k for a top tier Hyatt?! More like 6k. Much less than Hilton or SPG.

And if you mean by purchasing agc, then isn't top SPG only 30k as well?

You have a lot more out of pocket for that and you are capped at $50,000. 6x at grocery store with no limit is still a better deal.

What am I missing? How are you getting the Park Hyatt Sydney for $6k in spending?

Did the math, $$ out of pocket is $40 a night more to get Hyatt than Hilton. And from time to time Staples helps to mitigate that cost.

Will agree that it's more difficult to get rid of Staples gc, on the other hand, you have to unload nearly 10k less.

Seems to me to be about equal in terms of cost and hassle for Hilton and Hyatt. Which is news to me. I always thought that Hyatt was so much easier. Will have to reconsider my strategy moving forward.

don't forget to factor in 5th night free for hilton.

I just spoke to a manager. She said that if its within 30 days of account opening it can be done. She put in a request, which gets reviewed, and will have an answer in a few days. Here's hoping. I'll update on the decision.
Update: They did not match me.

I only see links nowadays for 40000.

In that case, what is the deal with this application page, 75k, link works in chrome, and it says expires October 29 2015...

I don't have specific plans to travel, is this worth going for in general?

ETA: Here is a Archive.org link in case they take it down.

can someone please explain the math to me?
95,000 per night at the Conrad... How do you get the total dollar/fee cost?
