Yeah wasn't planning on more than a day in Split itself. Using it as a jumping point to go to Plitvice lakes and Paklenica National Park for a day each.  Thinking about a blue cave tour including Hvar of some sort-any recommendations for a good tour company?

No, sorry. Hvar is beach clubs and nightlife (general matzav). Don't think there's any point in going for a few hours daytime.

IIRC blue cave can be done on the way between Hvar and Split, at least if you charter a private boat

Strange that AA is giving these routes to PHL over JFK

These flights will actually both be on the 767.

PHL has way more connecting traffic than JFK does. JFK will continue to see business routes, such as London, Paris etc.. these routes are going for the summer vacation crowd, much better served through PHL.

PHL has lower operating costs, and is a lot easier to have a hub there.

From PHL, AA operates 421 daily flights to 123 destinations.

JFK in comparison has 103 daily flights to 44 destinations.

JFK is toast. Too costly to fight DL/UA, so it'll just be for some key markets.

UA has lately been retreating as well. They are moving more and more connecting traffic through IAD vs EWR.
