When you could explain me the below, you could go on to fix your semi colon issue:

OUGH can stand for O as in ‘dough’.
PHTH can stand for T as in ‘phthisis’.
EIGH can stand for A as in ‘neighbor’.
TTE can stand for T as in ‘gazette’.
EAU can stand for O as in ‘plateau’.

Then the correct way to spell potato would be

GHOUGHPHTHEIGHTTEEAU
