What does everyone have against tachanun?
One should look at the end of the Beis Yosef in Orach Chaim ant the end of Siman 131. He quite uncharacteristically quotes a long paragraph of Zohar which brings the importance of one saying Tachanun.
The Mishna Berura says that a Chosson should refrain from entering shul during the days of his Sheva Brochos as it will cause the mispallelim to miss out on Tachanun (even though most modern day Poskim say one should only follow this Psak if the Chosson will have a minyan in his house).
I think it's just a thrill of getting to skip out a part of davening and people would be equally excited if on some days we skipped out the Brocho of Yotzer Or etc.
