The article purportedly describes the picture as being at a Friday night game.
I'm assuming the article was simply inaccurate either to the day of the picture or to this being the picture from the mentioned Friday night game.
The first 2 paragraphs are not meant to refer to the picture. When it says, "The only thing wrong with this picture..." it's meant in the sense of painting a picture with words, which is exactly what the first paragraph does. I bet if you find this article in the print version of the paper you might even find the picture on a different page than the beginning of the article. You'll notice that the caption to the picture contains stats on attendance up to this point of the season. The picture is simply meat to illustrate that point.
