It seems like the liberal propaganda got to you again. Being in the vicinity of a gun doesn't put you in harms way. This may be hard to believe, but guns don't pick themselves up and start randomly shooting. The gun is only as dangerous as the person holding it.
In this case it's just the opposite. Being in a dangerous area already, this gives the mother the ability to defend herself and the baby from attack, making the baby safer than it was without the gun.

Its not the moms gun that I'm afraid of. (though I wouldn't want to be anywhere near a shooting mommy, even if I wasn't the target!)

Last I checked mommies in brooklyn don't  NEED to carry weapons.

Babies are safer in brklyn. Cuz here they don't have to rely on mommies shooting skills.

These people feel a connection to the land and neighborhood they always lived in and have a right to stay there, if you don't feel comfortable there don't go there but don't tell them to leave. You make it sound like half of them are killed in terror attacks which is very far from reality.
