I live OOT also but I've been in town enuff and seen everything. There is no reason u shud be limited bc of other ppl that might be there. If your a good kid u won't get sucked in and will stick to ur own group, do wat u have to, and have a good time.

+1 The kids looking for "trouble" will find it no matter how many rules are made. The other kids  just end up losing out by these rules.

What if you are a good girl and want to meet good boys?  Shouldn't that be encouraged instead of the gawd awful system of resumes, good looks, money and materialism?

Case in point of how diverse DDF is. As someone who grew up in a yeshiva setting, we were taught that you don't talk to girls until shudduchim.

Now the people who are in shidduchim are not going to the pizza shops on motzei shabbos to find their zivug. Rather they go on formal dates, and they go thru the whole dating process.

We use the resume to make sure everything works on paper. It's basically like a prospectus.
It includes support terms, girls earning potential (RIO) etc. It's pretty sophisticated. Others base their marriage on casual meetings without delving into the real details. No wonder divorce rates are so high by them...

Wow.  So the financials are the "real details" and interpersonal chemistry is useless?  And who are "them?"  I know plenty of young divorced yeshivish couples, and I even know plenty others that are miserable but stuck.

I'm also curious how your dates went, since apparently it's assur to look at a female.
