The question is why would anyone use FedEx over UPS which is more reliable and has better tracking IME.
what makes you say so?

I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Umm... welcome to 2016. We are 5 years past that already!
And your answer:
True, but expedited is guaranteed delivery and ground isn't.
Learned that the hard way a couple months ago.
I'm not who you think I am.

Personal experience, as well as that of some friends.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Both UPS and FedEx offer ground and expedited services.

FedEx ground is possibly worse than USPS!

FedEx express is simply not as good or reliable as UPS express service.

I'm currently missing a package from USPS. DHL says they dropped it off at USPS Secaucus but USPS never scanned it in. I'm hoping it somehow resurfaces tomorrow.

Although my brother in Baltimore says FedEx is terrible. I guess it may depend on location.

So people have mixed experiences with FedEx, but UPS is uniformly good?

FedEx ground is basically an outsourcing operation, and has no driver/delivery person accountability.

I've had terrible experience with an air shipment from China via FedEx. They simply didn't deliver for a few days reporting that place was closed (over Yomtov) despite the fact that they didn't even attempt delivery. When it finally came, boxes were all banged up. Customer service was also a disaster.

I use UPS overnight very often and in my years of using them only once had an issue with something not arriving on time.

As I read this, I heard it in someone's voice in my mind. Can you guess who? :)

Never noticed a big difference between UPS and FedEx.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

The ability to give for UPS any type of package, whereas FedEx Express can not accept ground etc.

I don't know about CLE, but in Brooklyn there are probably at least 50 UPS trucks around for every 1 FedEx truck. That's a HUGE difference when you need to get something sent after pickup cutoff time. I can often send overnight letters as late as 9:30 or 10pm. Only place I know one can do that with FedEx is in Memphis, where I assume FedEx is overall better and stronger than UPS.
