I added loshon hakodesh its just lemahadrin. (Iirc, in hilchos Shabbos could be that loshon hakodesh is the av melocho..)

The advatage I can see is tbat when someone on the street bugs him by asking have you worn tefillin today he can always say yes. No one bugs you on the street about wearing a tallis or a yarmulka, so why go to the trouble of inking one.
