You mean when he performed it at the very same concert that the crowd went positively bezerk for MBD and Piamenta for their respective renditions of Yidden and Asher Bara?
I should've been more clear.

There were always rocky songs stolen from the other side. But stealing emotion from them was not rampant, at least not as far as I'm aware of.

When someone was inspired by HASC, they created songs to channel their emotions [Who Am I, Small Piece of Heaven, One Small Candle, Hamalach]. When someone was inspired by Oorah, they made songs to express their feelings[Eternity, an Oorah story, etc.].

Center stage of Jewish hartz was Jewish, because Jewish hartz is not the same as goyish hartz. But that value has begun to erode lately.

You mean like this kind of hartz?

There were always outliers
Come on, we have an entire thread dedicated to this, and there are plenty missing from there.

Yeah, but they aren't in the category of "Yiddishe Hartz™". I mean, this is stunning, there's no way this could come from, say, a Broadway musical.

So back in the days of songs like MBD's Daddy Dear?

I'm torn.

There were definitely elements I really enjoyed. The Yitzy Bald tribute was a treat, something taken out of the old HASC playbook.
This is exactly what I was referring to.

IMHO it was underwhelming and doesn’t stack up to any of the past HASC concerts.

You turn the frog over onto its back. Using a scalpel, carefully make an incision across the entire length of the frog's body. Gently cut the frog's legs off, being sure not to break them - you'll need these for dinner later.
I'm not who you think I am.

No soap radio
If I understand him correctly, he is alluding to
Explaining a joke is like dissecting a frog. You understand it better but the frog dies in the process.
