I use the +abc trick, and change it for each place I donate to. I've tracked some sharing, and at least it's easier to filter.

Yup, it makes me sick when places do that (with no recourse other than to block), and the smart places trim out the plus and everything else (e.g. they trim lcm+abc@gmail.com to lcm@gmail.com).

Additionally, I never know if its the organization at fault, or a rogue employee, 3rd party, the platform, hackers (unlikely) or someone else. So withholding donations isn’t always fair. Asking isn’t an option because if they even answer they’ll always say no, and might even suggest you’re falsely accusing them.

I get endless organization spam from constant contact and the like. I don’t really want to hurt the organization but the harassment is annoying. If it’s shared email lists that each organization uses separately, then blocking some doesn’t prevent the others (without the plus trick that can be circumvented, or some other aliasing solution that can’t be circumvented but is then annoying to use.

Perhaps I’m too nice, because I’ve seen (from afar) what a headache it is to deal with when your staticIPs end up on spam blacklists.

The problem is; when most tzedakah organizations end up in spam, you start running out of places (that you're comfortable) to give Ma'aser to.

That has not even come close to being a problem. Spam emails are not a good source to find places I am comfortable with. By them spamming me they made uncomfortable with them.

I used to do that but stopped. I've just updated my policy to no online donations whatsoever. If someone approaches me in person and tells me that's the only way to donate, and I want to give to the cause, I tell them to put their own email address there and forward me the receipt.

This past week someone tried to get me to donate online, and wouldn't accept no for an answer. I gave him cash, but he kept on insisting, eventually, he realized what a fool he made of himself, and wanted to give me back the cash. I refused telling him to give it to any cause he finds worthy, but he just left the money on the table and walked away. A day or two later someone approached me for the same campaign, but this time with a card reader in hand, I said "sorry, I don't give to this cause" (which is regretful because as a policy I try to never say no, the amounts might differ, but I try to never turn away anyone asking for tzedoko, especially if it's a yeshiva or anything connected to supporting, enhancing and/or spreading לימוד התורה).

How do you determine them spamming you?

I happen to work for an organization and we send out about 2 emails a year for our yearly raffle fundraiser. We only send it to people who have donated to us in the past or are alumni/parents. We don't buy email lists to spam and we have never given out any of our donor info / emails out. (I know this for a fact since I'm the only one who really knows how to fully access it)

Occasionally someone will still mark it as spam because they are so used to marking all tzedakah emails as spam.
This could hurt the organization by the email providers automatically marking it as spam for other people.

I just recently sent out 1 of our 2 yearly emails and b'h only 1 email was marked as spam.
