They were an embarrassment to first class...but at the same time, when you flew a route that didnt have any other airline servicing the route...it was nice to have "something"

Did you fly UA F to Australia? That will be the biggest loss as that award space is decent.

Yes, twice in one summer in fact. I flew F (or really O) from LAX-SYD last June and then LAX-SYD-MEL last August. If you remember (seems your memory is pretty good) my flight back was canceled and I was placed on AC LAX-YVR-YYZ to get home. The AC was two cabin with a "business/first" which was just about as good as the UA F.

Yup, like I said the biggest loss is the award space down under, not the class itself.
Either way, it's a phase out, so enjoy while it lasts.

Not to change the subject, but does DL have a true F? When I flew ATL-JNB they called that first but I think it was a 2-cabin "business/first." Is that what UA's highest class will be like?

Yes. It already is like that on many of their aircraft (like EWR-TLV). But Jeff revealed that the rest of the fleet will be converted to that as well.

So, yes, what I said about DL is true?

If so, then all UA will be like UA's EWR-MAN. It is 2-cabin and I is the highest redemption. Correct?

Well I gotta tell you. Excuse my language but VS sucks just as bad. just flew them JNB-LHR-JFK. 2-cabin crap. Fancy lights and pajamas don't make up for those ridiculous seats.
