Best FIRST Credit Cards
« on: February 06, 2011, 03:03:29 PM »
I have recently helped many Bochurim who had no credit history apply for their first card. the cards with the most success were as  follows:
The Citi Forward card which is the best: www.citiforward.com
The Discover Card which i`ll post the link later because they switched around the site.

If I just got approved for my first card (capital one) and I have no credit history - would it hurt me (like get denied) to apply other cards for example citi card etc...

Every application would be an inquiry, which would adversely affect your credit score.

besides the inquiry, you would probably have better success in your application if you waited a couple months at least

wasn't sure if this is in the right place but didn't want to open a new thread
1 if i apply for cards and have no credit history will it affect my score?
2 i applied for a secured card and paying an annual fee of $39, is it ok to close my first cc after 1 year or even less?

i think secured cards have a certain time u must have it open.

1st things first - learn how to quote things and after the quote right ur question.

2ndly from ur Q:
1 if i apply for cards and have no credit history will it affect my score?
you were not being clear that you dont have a CC. - it sounds like you are asking "if i apply for cardS (which means a few cards)" and that means you have a CC bec otherwise y would u apply for a few cards at once before u had one card?!

so now that you say you dont have one. so look around the forum to see what is a good CC to start with and use the answer that AsherO said and apply that to yourself as well.

The 40K USAirways card form Barclays has been pretty good on approving customers with little or no credit. Just beware that you might not get the full signup bonus if they decide to give you a 'lower level' card.

Try a Macy's or Gap.

Make yourself an AU on someone else's account in good standing.

I think Kohls might be easier, is that no good?
(whats an AU? im assuming an additional cardholder, but what does it stand for?)
Thanks
